History...

“Slovácký krúžek Svatobořice-Mistřín” is the direct successor of “Slovácký Krúžek Svatobořice”, whose foundation is dated on 14th March 1947. Until 1964 Svatobořice and Mistřín had been two separated villages and both of them had their own folk groups.
František Bimka was elected the first mayor of “Slovácký Krúžek Svatobořice”. He was a friend of Dr. Rutte from Zlín, who helped him draw up the first statutes of “Slovácký Krúžek”. Along with his brothers – Josef, Petr, Jaroslav and Janek, he formed the heart of the brass band “Bimci” and they were the first accompanying music band of the “Krúžek”. The musicians also managed to play string instruments as they often used to play “štraich” (music played by both string and brass instruments together) after midnight at local dances. The members of this band started to form the first cimbalom band of “Slovácký krúžek”. Jan Bimka becomes the first violinist. Ever since its formation the “Slovácký krúžek” has been very active in organizing folk events in the village – “Slovácké Dny”; Contests in singing and dancing; Parades of cimbalom bands and so on but the major mission has been seen in the continuation of observing the folk customs in our village – The Revel with the Chaplet; The Carnival - “Fašaňk”; Easter, The Building of Maypole; “Slovácká” Wedding, The Celebration of Reaping - “Dožínky”; Custums around Vintage – “Zarážení hory”; The Recruitment of young men – “Legrúti” and The Carol. Later it was extended with the folk design and handmade production of folk costumes. The members of the folk group have also cooperated with collectors of folk music and dances, along with them they have recorded about 400 songs and 24 dances. They were organizers and authors of programs accompanying important visitations in our village, such as President Dr. Edvard Beneš and his wife’s visit and afterwards an English minister Lewis Silkin’s visit. Between 1947 – 1950 one 131 new members entered the “Slovácký krúžek” and they presented their dancing and singing at the performances in the whole of our country.
